I thought it was time to write a quick update on Project Plug-In - my blog recording my journey to EV ownership (maybe! I’m still not convinced…..)

I’ve been doing lots of research into BEVs and PHEVs and generally learning more about the requirements and realities of EV ownership. I’ve been sent some fab resources (thanks everyone, especially Randal 'Tiny' Smith BEM MSc BEng(Hons) CEng FRAeS FInstLM, the resource you linked me to was super helpful), and I've been given great advice about ownership models (thanks Matti Pouhakka, I agree, it’s not time to buy outright now as the technology is changing too fast, it’s definitely a leasing type model I’ll go for).

It’s also been great to learn about real experiences of EV ownership (Steve Tucker, glad you’re enjoying yours!).

So now it’s onto the fun part - the test drives! For me, car ownership is all about the driving experience, so test drives are a key part of the buying process.

So, my next question is….

What brands, models and better still, derivatives, should I consider? This question is intended to get the ball rolling, but I have no badge snobbery, no brand alliances and no pre-conceived ideas, so I’m open to any and all ideas.

And to give you an insight into my car mind here’s some info to help…

The car the EV will replace is an Audi A5 3.0l Quattro convertible (the convertible isn’t important in the EV).

What’s important to me:

If you have any wisdom, advice or even an opinion, I'd love to hear it!
